Community IT Innovators (CITI) is the leading IT provider to nonprofits and progressive organizations in the DC area. This position is for a technically-minded and socially-conscious individual, who wants to use his or her skills to work with nonprofits and socially responsible organizations in the Washington, D.C. area.
Our web development business unit is seeking a new Director of Development. The new Director would be in charge of our 6-person web development team, creating websites and custom applications using a combination of Drupal, Django, and Coldfusion.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction for the development practice
- Manage and provide leadership to our 6-person development team, consisting of 1 project manager and 5 developers
- Responsible for business unit financial performance and monitoring
- Work with technical staff to plan, develop, and deploy technical solutions
- Investigate and prototype innovative approaches to improve software quality
- Create and track team and individual goals
- Working with the project manager, supervise developer productivity and workload
- Maintain positive, long-term relationships with approximately 10-20 clients
- Resolve client disputes and conflicts
- Conduct periodic check-ins of the quality of service CITI is delivering
- Respond to incoming work opportunities from RFPs, existing clients, and other avenues
- Create proposals and manage sales effort for the business unit
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations is highly preferred
The Director of Development reports directly to the CEO.
Qualifications- Minimum of two years experience managing a web development practice.
- Understanding of web development technologies, such as PHP, Drupal, Python, Django, etc.
- Excellent writing, editing and oral communications skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, function well under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- A personal commitment to nonprofit causes.
